Unfortunately Tom McClelland has had to resign as the editor of our Division 44 newsletter, the Megaphone.  Tom has resumed consulting work and simply does not have the time to continue working on the newsletter.  He has turned over his unfinished edition for May to me as well as some other articles he planned to issue and I am working to get a publication out in the next week or so.  I apologize to each of you for not having a  Megaphone published monthly.  Until I can get the Megaphone published again, below are a few items for your information and possible action:

  • As has become the custom in our Division, no DCM will be held in July or August.  Our next planned DCM will be September 8.
  • None of our clubs or members in the Division have been directly impacted by the fires although they were close to Amador.  I have contacted Lesa Holmes the Lt. Governor of Division 14 since Oroville and the town of Paradise are in her territory to see if we can mobilize our resources to help them.  She has not yet gotten back to me. Governor Oscar is also preparing to offer any help to the fire victims throughout the state which Kiwanis can muster.
  • For club presidents and secretaries, please remember to file your report of elections to report your elected officers for next year to Kiwanis International and to the District.  Also, please let Lt. Governor-Designate, James Chambers, know the names and contact information of the Club President and Secretary so he can establish a communication channel with them. James can be reached at chambers34@comcast.net
  • CLE for club presidents and secretaries in Region 16 is set for July 19; contact Lt. Governor-Designate, James Chambers, for details if you missed the materials already distributed
  • I had wanted to hold a picnic and softball game during late July or early August for all Kiwanians and their families in the Division along with the clubs in Division 7.  My idea was to simply have an enjoyable get together (as well as beating Division 7 in a softball game.)  However, a location could not be found that would accommodate us so this event will not be happening - sorry...

Please let me know if I can provide any clarification for the items listed above and look for the Megaphone to come out again ASAP.

Celebrating your service,
Jim
