To All:
Please read the attachment from Pete Arney which describes the duties of KFH Arco coordinator. Pete has retired from this coordinator job and we need a replacement person to take charge. Pete will continue to volunteer. This has been an important fund raising event for KFH over the past eight
years. I
know it has not raised as many $ each game for the past couple of
years as
it has in the past, but it is dollars we badly need. The Kings will
improve
their record eventually and KFH will benefit in the long term. It
has also
been fun to work these games from a social point of view. Kind
of like a
girls/boys night out. Amazing how so many of the same volunteers
show up at
most if not all the games. I have been working all of the games
the past
couple of years and will continue to do so. Another way to support
your
Kiwanis Family House. We need a strong leader, like Pete Arney has
been, to
take this event into the future. I have faith somebody will stand up
to the
challenge, who will it be, YOU. GO KINGS GO., thanks

Arco Update #38 - Wed 4/15/08
_____________________________________________________
Our 2007-2008 Arco Arena season is over. We
did fourteen Kings games and one George Strait concert to provide $12,819
for the Kiwanis Family House. Since we began the Arco concession stand
in 2000, we have worked 122 events for a grand total of $131,616.
This season, 201 volunteers from 21 clubs
filled 483 concession stand positions for the fifteen events we
participated in.
For the first time, Escalon (Jerry Emery)
and UC Health Systems (Roy Sinez) participated: (12) from Escalon and
(29) from UCHS. UCHS Rachel Cortez came to six games and brought several
others back to help out as well.
Throughout the season, Rancho Murieta
(Judith Embree) brought us (18) volunteers, Greater Lodi (Tom Saunders)
brought (17) volunteers, Sac Suburban (Rich Kocher) brought (17)
volunteers, Gold Country (Tom Morrissey) and Fairfield (Larry Johns) each
brought (13) volunteers.
We had a number of volunteers that
worked every or nearly every event: LeRoy Diede, Betty Arney, Jack
Seigal, Russell Pullman, Mike Michael, Sarge Wright, Bob Canady, Tom
Saunders, Gary Christensen, Ken Shill, Rick Dwyer, Tom Morrissey.
Thanks to all of the volunteers and clubs
that supported Kiwanis Family House at Arco this season. All were needed
and appreciated.
I have been blessed to have worked with such
a wonderful group of Kiwanians as those who have donated their time at
Arco to benefit the Kiwanis Family House. I won't soon forget the
past eight years. Thank you.

Volunteers are always needed to help sell drinks and food at ARCO Arena. Each game worked earns about $1,100 for Kiwanis Family House. The work is fun and time passes quickly. You do have to work on your feet for about four hours. Workers need to wear a white shirt and black slacks. Volunteers should contact Pete Arney at KFHArcoNews@pacbell.net or 916-956-2870 with any questions. Directions: Take I-80 west to the Truxel Rd. exit; proceed north to the last entrance into Arco parking. To get to Truxel from I-5, take the Del Paso Rd. exit and proceed east approximately one mile to Truxel Rd. Turn right onto Truxel and then the first right into the parking lot. You will be directed to park in Lot M. You should then walk up to the North East entrance to the arena. There will be Arco staff at the North East entrance to guide you to the Kiwanis concession stand. One of us will be at the stand to greet you and to get you set up. We need over 30 workers each game.
